that you carry glass etching equipment, but I can't find it anywhere
on the site. Where should I be looking?

General/Website
I'm
confused about how the website is set-up. On some pages, there
is a login choice and others there is not. When I login, I get
a welcome message on some pages, but not on others. It is almost
like the site forgets who I am. What gives?
The product section of our site (where you can purchase etching
products or sign up for a seminar) has two sections - the store
pages and pages of general information about products or about
the site. When you are in the store pages, you get the login choice,
the welcome message after you login, and there are a few other
differences. These do not show up when you are in the general
information pages. You move seamlessly between these two sections
as you browse through the site. Even when you login and then move
back to an info page, the store remembers who you are, and displays
your personal welcome as soon as you return to any store page.

How does
the order process work?
- When you
see an item you would like enter the quantity and click on the
"add to basket" button. This places the item in an electronic
shopping basket. You can check to see what you have placed in
your shopping basket at any time simply by clicking on the "Basket
Contents" button at the top of the page.
- After you've
finished shopping, select "checkout" at the top right of the
page.
- Next, you
are shown your order and asked to fill in your shipping and
billing information. When you are finished click the "continue"
button.
NOTE: If you have logged in under the Preferred Customer program,
this information will already be filled in for you, saving you
time at checkout!
- The next
page will show you the shipping and billing information you
entered as well as the items you are ordering. You are also
asked to select your method of shipping and payment type. Once
you have finished click the "continue" button.
- The next
page is the final page. Here you will verify that all information
is correct and enter your credit card number. When you have
finished click the "continue" Button
- Your order
will then be processed (this may take a minute of so). When
processing is finished you will be given your invoice/confirmation.
- If
you would like to contact us concerning your order you can do
so by replying to the confirmation e-mail or sending an e-mail
to info@etchmaster.com

How does the shopping cart work?
Once you have selected the "add to basket" button next to
any product, that product is placed in an electronic shopping
basket. You will be brought back to the product page you have
just ordered from, and the "Quantity in Basket" line
will show the quantity of that product you added to your basket.
You can check the contents of your shopping basket at any time
simply by clicking on the basket contents button at the top of
the page. If there is a product you would like to remove from
your shopping basket simply click the remove button next to the
item.

Are credit card transactions on Etchmaster safe?
Absolutely! In fact, it's statistically safer to use
your credit card over the Internet than in a restaurant or department
store. Etchmasters' servers use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), an
encryption technology that works with Netscape Navigator, Microsoft
Internet Explorer and AOL's browser so that only Etchmaster can
read a buyer's personal information.

When are credit cards charged for an order?
Credit cards are charged at the time the order is placed.
If there is any problem with the credit card that is used or the
information was entered incorrectly you will be notified that
we are unable to authorize payment. You can then either provide
us with a new credit card number or make sure the information
was entered correctly. If the credit card is still unable to be
processed please contact your credit card company.

Does Etchmaster charge sales tax?
State laws require a New Mexico-based business (such as Etchmaster)
to collect sales tax on orders shipped to New Mexico addresses.
In our case, the amount of sales tax collected is based on the
tax rate for the City of Santa Fe, NM. We are currently not required
to collect sales tax on orders shipped to residents of any other
states.
Can people outside the United States order from Etchmaster?
Yes!
We take orders from anywhere in the world.

What is the method of shipping?
At Etchmaster®,
orders are normally shipped via UPS or FedEx, depending on our
customer's choice at the time of checkout.

Preferred
Customer Program
Question:
I have signed up for your preferred customer program but I am
not seeing any different prices. What do I do?
Answer:
There are 3 possible causes for this:
1. You aren't logging in. You must log in, using your user
name and password, for the lower pricing to show up. You will
see the login choice at the top of the left nav bar, anytime you
are in the store. When you are in generic information pages (html
only pages) you will not see this option. (Remember, in this new
store, you go seamlessly back and forth between info pages and
store pages.) After you log in, the store remembers who you are
even when you are in the info pages (though it doesn't display
your personal Welcome in the info pages). When you go back into
the store for information about a specific product or class of
products, your welcome is still there.
2. You
haven't waited the 24 to 48 hours for your new status to go into
effect. We are looking into a way for the status to go into effect
immediately, and may implement that in the future if it works.
Until then, you will have to wait a day or two at the most for
your new Preferred Customer status to be activated.
3.
Not all products have different pricing. Since this is a new program,
we have started with a few products. We will be adding products
to this list as often as we can. REMEMBER that lower pricing is
not the only reason to join the Preferred Customer program. We
will be having special sales, introductory offers of new products
and new classes, and other special announcements that you will
receive by email.

Question:
I read and followed the instructions in the question above. However,
I am still nott seeing any lower prices on the special sale pages.
What could be the problem?
Answer: You know that you are indeed on the Preferred Customer
list if you get the welcome message with your name. You should
be seeing the discounted pricing when you login. Just make sure
you are on a page with products that offer discounted pricing
for Preferred Customers. (We are just setting this system up and
many pages do not have different pricing.)
If you are still not seeing the lower prices for qualifying products
after you login (the regular price appears with a line through
it beside the lower price), there is one thing you should try.
The website knows who you are by the use of cookies. This is not
a diabolical method of tracking your every move or of finding
out everything about you, and it is completely transparent to
us on the other end. It is simply the way the website keeps track
of who you are. In fact, we just found out about this ourselves.
If your internet settings do not allow cookies on your machine,
the site will have trouble keeping track of you and may not function
properly.
Most people do not want to enable cookies from all websites on
their browser, but there is a way to do this selectively, on a
per site basis. In Internet Explorer, just go to Tools (on the
top menu bar), then Internet Options, then Privacy. Click on the
Edit button in the lower part of the window, then type in "etchmaster.com"
(you may have to type in "www.etchmaster.com" in the
address box, then click on the Allow button. Click on OK till
you get back to the regular screen. Then try logging into the
site and you should see the lower prices.

Glass
Etching Questions
Question:
On the first page of the site, you mention that you carry glass
etching equipment, but I can't find it anywhere on the site. Where
should I be looking?
Answer: We do carry a full line of glass
etching equipment, but have not put it up on the website yet.
We have offered it primarily to students in our classes for the
past few years, but we will be adding it to the site soon. It
will still be a few weeks yet before we can get it posted, so
you should call and request our literature on the equipment that
is available, along with pricing pages.

Question:
Can I make any money at glass etching? I am interested in supplementing
my income for now and eventually going into my own business if
I do well enough.
Answer: Glass etching is not a "get rich quick"
scheme, but the answer is definitely "yes" because we
have seen many of our students (and others) do very well financially
etching glass as a business. However it is much more complicated
to give a full answer, which is why we deal with this extensively
in our Professional Glass Etching Seminar. There is high demand
for etched glass products in all major fields where glass is used
- in architectural glass, awards and corporate gifts, personalized
gifts, signage, interior design, and glass art. Prices tend to
be very good for the etcher as there is still not much competition
in most areas of the country (or around the world). At the same
time, equipment cost for glass etching is very low, considering
how much per hour you can earn. But you do have to treat it as
a business and learn to price and market your products effectively
if you want to succeed.
