There are a number of techniques we consider advanced techniques in glass etching that are closely related. We try to offer each of these by themselves during the year, but we have always grouped them together once during the year. This way anyone who wants to take more than one at a time can do so, saving the travel expenses for multiple trips.
During this time, we combine advanced glass carving techniques (Glass Carving 2), with Gold Leafing Techniques on glass and Coloring Techniques on glass. Any professional glass etcher who knows the basics (and many just stop after learning the basics) can take one, two or all three of these classes in the same trip and be light years ahead of their competitors. Those who are doing etching as a high level hobby will increase the quality and variety of their work a whole order of magnitude.
These 3 classes are 3 days each, with one day in between to rest, recuperate and perhaps do a little sightseeing or shopping in Santa Fe. One or more of the classes are held during the huge International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque. This is a favorite attraction, drawing over 750 hot air balloons from all over the world each year. It is the largest gathering of hot air balloons in the world and the most photographed event in the world. We always make sure that students have ample time to visit the Fiesta without missing class time.
To decide it this combination of classes is for you, please read the individual class description pages, and go to the Schedules/Pricing page to check out the dates and pricing for the current year classes. Then, sign up for each class individually. Since these classes tend to fill up readily, be sure and reserve your place early. This is equally true for the accomodations here at Aliento B&B. Students who stay here always get together and carpool to the Balloon Fiesta and we generally hold some tasty barbeques here at the homestead during classes. Don't miss it! |

This beautiful piece
was carved by Tohru Okamura, one of our advanced students from Japan. Mr
Okamura's work became so good that we featured several of his pieces in
our full color book, Etched Glass - Techniques & Designs. |
